Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators
In recent years there have been some major improvements in home elevators both in terms of design as well as in function. Pneumatic vacuum elevators are the result of many of many of those improvements. While some people find they are a bit 'futuristic' looking in design, they can actually blend quite well with almost any household décor and the best part yet is that they are easily installed in existing structures as well as during new construction on homes. They work, as the name would imply, by means of air pressure in the elevator chamber which is actually a great energy saving feature. You won't find an elevator that is more eco friendly than pneumatic vacuum elevators.
Construction of Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators
When looking at the elevator it appears to be constructed from glass, but that is really polycarbonate and the structure is built from high strength aluminum. The elevator cab is polycarbonate as well so that passengers have a panoramic 360 degree view of the home while riding in it. Because of the 220 volt turbines, air pressure is reduced above the cabin on ascension and the pressure below is increased at the same time. To cause the elevator to descend again, the reverse happens and the pressure is released slowly to allow the cabin to descend. They are 100% safe and will never get stuck between floors as they have a safety lock built in should there be a power failure. Because there is absolutely no power used while descending, pneumatic vacuum elevators are the most energy efficient models on the market.
Variety in Locations
One of the most interesting aspects of pneumatic vacuum elevators is the fact that they can be located just about anywhere. There is no need to dig into the foundation because nothing needs to be placed below ground. Many people who add this type of elevator to their homes find that they are ideal because they require very little space and can be placed just about anywhere! In fact, they look absolutely wonderful when built in the center of a winding staircase. Most often, when built for interior use they hold from one to three people and the larger size is used to accommodate those individuals who are in a wheelchair. Because they are space-saving in nature, they can be installed in the most convenient location without the necessity to actually remodel a room.
They may take getting used to when first seeing them because of their ultra contemporary design, but in actuality they can easily blend with any style architecture. The one thing to be aware of is that air does bring up a bit of dust so they will need to be cleaned with some amount of regularity and polycarbonate is soft so it will scratch easily. Because of this care should be used when cleaning the cabin. However, with failsafe measures built in and the small amount of power pneumatic vacuum elevators use, they are among the most popular of home elevators.
