Car Elevators
Have you ever wondered, when driving down the road and spotting those classic cars parked way up high on platforms, how they ever got up there? Of course you know they were lifted up there, but most people assume they were lifted with chain hoists. Actually, many times they are elevated with car elevators that are made specifically so that the vehicle can be driven off the elevator onto the platform and parked there. There are actually several types of car elevators for use indoors or out, many of which are mobile, although some are built into the location and remain stationary.
Mobile Car Elevators
Of course, most mobile car elevators do use a hoist of sorts, but the vehicle is on a platform when being lifted. The platform itself can be left in place or the vehicle can be moved from the mobile platform to a stationary platform or bay area. Usually mobile car elevators are driven by hydraulics and not powered with electricity. Actually, chain hoists can also be considered to be car elevators, but most often are referred to as lifts.
Innovate Upper Level Apartment Elevators
Believe it or not there are new car elevators on the market that enable apartment dwellers to actually park their vehicles on the upper level of an apartment building! They have been featured across the internet and have met with some amount of success. It's a novel idea in that you can have an elevator installed that you drive onto, it lifts your vehicle up a level, you drive off and onto your balcony. It goes without saying that these are probably owned condominiums as opposed to rental properties, but it's an interesting thought!
Dealership Car Elevators
Sometimes large car dealerships around the world have upper levels where cars are parked on display. You may not see how they actually got those vehicles up to that upper level, but you can bet your bottom dollar there was an elevator of some form involved. Many dealerships have heavy duty car elevators installed at one or both ends of the building so that the vehicles can simply be driven off the elevator and onto the upper showroom floor. Other car elevators are mobile and virtually lift the vehicle into the spot where it is meant to go on display.
Whether the vehicle is intended to be placed on a platform for display outside a building, elevated within a building, or lifted from the exterior ground level to an upper parking level, car elevators can be build to specifications so that they can meet your requirements. Pricing will obviously vary depending on the type of car elevators you are inquiring about, but one factor is of course the amount of weight they can withstand along with the actual size of the elevator. Car elevators can even be built to specifications large and strong enough to hoist a truck and in very rare cases, multiple cars. However, almost always car elevators can be built to the specs you require.
